It has been a tough week of curling at the Senior Ladies Provincial’s, as Karen Lepine (5-2 record) ended up in a tie-breaker against Kathy Smiley (5-2 record) for the final playoff spot this week. After 10 ends Karen Lepine won the game handidly in a 9-3 victory over Kathy Smiley. We will be cheering for Karen as her lead Leslie Conde-Mathot is a member of our club in tonight’s semi-final game against the Jenkins Rink.
Senior Men Playoffs
It’s the end of the week and there were 4 teams left sitting on top of the standings. Our Richmond Team Watson (4-3 record) was tied with Doug Meger’s Royal City rink (4-3 record) and had to play in a tie-breaker game, with the winner advancing to the semi-finals against Brian Gessner of Royal City. After 10 ends of curling the Watson rink came short against Doug Meger in a 3-6 loss. There are still a couple of Richmond member’s playing tonight in the semi-final game on Brian Gessner’s team.
Senior Women’s Provincials On Now!
The Tim Horton’s Senior Women’s Provincial’s is on this week until Sunday Feb 19th.
We will be cheering for our club member Leslie Conde-Mathot (the lead for Karen Lepine) this week.

CONDESER FUNDRAISER
Join us at the Richmond Curling Club for a St.Patrick’s Day Fundraiser!
We are raising money for a new condenser for our club.
It will be an afternoon-evening of social activities on and off the ice.
You do not have to be a club member to join in on the fun we encourage the public to come out and join in on the fun.

Spring Fling Bonspiel
We are officially taking entries for this years Spring Fling Bonspiel. There are a few changes to the format of the bonspiel this year, as we are starting on thursday instead of tuesday, and we will have daytime draws on friday to take advantage of the Good Friday holiday. This year’s theme is a twist on the Easter Holiday as we are doing a PLAYBOY theme! That’s right, guys pull out your housecoats and cigars, and ladies look for your bunny ears. We will have a Hugh Hefner Look-A-Like contest, and a house bunny contest on Saturday as we party it up at the Richmond Mansion.
Men’s BC Provincials
The Richmond Curling Club would like to give a round of applause to our members that played in the 2012 Canadian Direct Insurance BC Men’s Curling Championship.
The club was cheering the following members:
Darin Laface (Team Heath): The team came close to making a long C qualifier run before being defeated by Brian Windsor.
Dwayne Uyede (Team Peachey): Team Peachey came close to twice last week as they made it to the B and C Qaulifiying games against Jim Cotter and Sean Geall.
Sean Geall (Team Geall): This throw together team made a great run at provincials as they qualified through the C Qualifier, but they were defeated by the Chris Baier rink in the 3 vs 4 game of the page playoff.
Congratulations to everyone that participated in the Provincial Event, you have made your club proud.
Johnson Team Wins C Event
