14 October UPDATE: Season Start Delayed

UPDATE 14 OCTOBER: Plant repairs are underway. As soon as they are complete and the plant has re-started we will provide a new start date for our curling season.

Due to unexpected repairs required to start our ice plant, we have been forced to delay the start of our curling season by a further week to two weeks. We are awaiting the engineer’s assessment of the repair and timeline to re-start the plant before we can confirm our start date. As soon as the repairs are made and the plant is back up and operating we will confirm the new opening date as soon as possible.

We sincerely apologize for the delay but this was something we could not have foreseen. To say that staff are disappointed is an understatement as they have been working extremely hard to prepare our club for re-opening with new covid safety measures in place, only to have this unfortunate and unrelated circumstance put a halt to it.

We will provide further updates as soon as we have additional information to share with you. Please keep your fingers and toes crossed for a quick resolution!

In the meantime, to update you on a few positives that have happened at our club in recent weeks:

– we have a beautiful new public mural on the south wall (facing Gilbert and Lansdowne) <photo below>

– we have a new beer line and tap at the bar so no more foamy draught beer!

– we have completed installation of new LED lights inside the entire building including the ice shed.  Its so bright in here you may have to wear shades!

Finally, if you have not already registered, please do so as this will help us continue to finalize leagues and confirm we have enough teams to run them. If you are not comfortable paying for your registration before we confirm a new start date, you can select “cash/cheque” as a payment option for payment later, then we at least have your registration on file. https://richmond.curling.io/en/leagues

We thank you for your patience and understanding as we deal with this new curveball. We continue to work hard on behalf of all our curlers to ensure our club remains safe and ready to curl as quickly as possible.

Yours truly,

RCC Board and Staff
